Balkan Moto Tour

14-day adventure motorcycle tour takes you through five countries and about 2300 km along the Balkans, passing through mountains, rivers, canyons, national parks, two seas, and Europe's most beautiful lake - Ohrid. You'll ride on the most scenic roads of Eastern Europe, and discover local attractions, cultural and historical inspiration along the way.

DAY 1.  Sofia Airport transfer and check-in at the hotel

DAY 2.  Sofia - Belogradchik

Our adventure begins! The road follows the ridge of the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina). Along the way, we will visit the Rocks of Belogradchik, a natural phenomenon over 200 million years old. Another point of interest on the route is the picturesque Bulgarian cave, Magura, famous for its carvings from the Bronze Age. This cave is the only prehistoric monument of its kind in Southeastern Europe. Magura Cave was known since the times of the Roman Empire and has been explored since the Middle Ages.

DAY 3.  Belogradchik - Zlatibor

We bid farewell to Belogradchik and leave Bulgaria. Our first stop on the way through Serbia is the ancient town of Uzice. On the third day of our journey, we will stop to spend the night in the holiday city of Zlatibor.

DAY 4.  Zlatibor - Kolasin

In the morning, we will set off to the artificial city of "Mećavnik", founded by Emir Kusturica, a world-renowned Serbian director, actor, and musician. Kusturica designed this city as a shooting location for several movies. After leaving Mećavnik, we will head to our next country on the route, Montenegro. Our final destination for today is the city of Kolašin.

DAY 5.  Kolasin - Budva

This day will be memorable for a long time! We will ride from east to west and from west to south along the picturesque canyon of Tara. One of Montenegro's most well-known attractions, the Đurđevića bridge, will be one of our stops. We will also ride through Durmitor National Park. Finally, we will visit the ancient monastery of Ostrog. Some say that Ostrog is as popular for Orthodox pilgrims as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The monastery is well-known for its walls that house relics and bones of Saint Basil of Ostrog, an ancient prayer book from 1732, and church chandeliers from approximately the same period. Our final destination for this exciting day will be the city of Budva.

DAY 6.  Budva

Enjoy a well-deserved day of rest on the azure Adriatic seaside near the city of Budva. You can choose to explore the ancient city or simply relax by the seaside. It will be terribly difficult to leave such beauty the next day!

DAY 7.  Budva - Durres

Today, we set off for Albania. The route passes along the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. We will stop near the famous Rozafa Castle in Shkodra to have lunch, and then head to our final destination for the day - the holiday city of Durrës.

DAY 8.  Durres - Ohrid

It's time to explore the beauty of North Macedonia. Our journey will take us through Albania's capital, Tirana, where we'll cross two national parks before riding along the shores of Lake Ohrid. In 1980, Ohrid and its famous lake were included in UNESCO's World Heritage List.

DAY 9.  Ohrid

Rest day! We will enjoy the purity of the crystal-clear waters of Lake Ohrid!

DAY 10.  Ohrid - Bitola

Today, our ride will take us through two national parks - Galičica and Pelister - and along two lakes - Ohrid and Prespa. We will then climb up to Horske sedlo pass and enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa. Our tour will include a visit to the oldest monastery on the Balkan Peninsula - St. Naum. This monastery was established in 893-900 AD by St. Naum of Ohrid, a student of Cyril and Methodius, with the help of Bulgarian rulers Boris and Simeon. After lunch, we will have approximately an hour to walk around the monastery's grounds. Our final destination for the day is the city of Bitola, where we will stay in a private boutique hotel with its own winery. Before dinner, we will have the opportunity to taste the best wines of the Bitola region during a wine tasting event specially organized for us.

DAY 11.  Bitola - Skopje

In the morning, we will head to the beautiful canyon formed by the Treska River, located within the natural reservation of Jasen. This area offers stunning views. To reach it, we will drive along the mountain range of Stogovo, passing by Kozjak Lake. The Treska River, which runs through the canyon, forms breathtaking landscapes that attract groups of tourists. We have scheduled lunch in Matka Canyon, a beautiful and picturesque area located about a 30-minute drive from the capital city of Skopje. During this time, we will take a planned boat trip along the Treska River to further appreciate the natural beauty of the area.

DAY 12.  Skopj - Bansko

We say farewell to Macedonia and enter the territory of Bulgaria again. Our next destination is the city of Bansko, which is the largest ski resort in Bulgaria. Bansko is always crowded with tourists, regardless of the season. During the summer, Bansko attracts fans of hiking, mountain biking, mountaineering, horseback riding, and many other activities. The Jazz Music Festival in August is the most important cultural event in the region, attracting thousands of visitors.

This is the last day of our amazing motorcycle trip around the Balkans. We will head back to Sofia through a picturesque road along the Rila National Park and the southern slope of Rila Mountain.
